Iranian ambassador says US withdrawal from Middle East is only way to resolve conflict

Kazem Jalali said the the Middle East can ensure security in the region itself

MOSCOW, October 16. /TASS/. The withdrawal of all US troops from Middle Eastern countries is the only way to resolve the conflict between the United States and Iran, Iranian Ambassador to Russia Kazem Jalali said.

"The only solution is for the Americans to leave this region. We can ensure security in the region ourselves, and we do not need any foreign players from outside the region," the diplomat told Vesti.

Earlier, Iranian Army spokesman Brigadier General Mohammad Akraminia also named the withdrawal of US troops from Persian Gulf states as a condition for reopening the Strait of Hormuz.

On February 28, the United States and Israel launched a war against Iran. The largest Iranian cities, including Tehran, came under attack. The Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps announced a large-scale retaliatory operation, targeting Israel. US military facilities in Bahrain, Jordan, Iraq, Qatar, Kuwait, the United Arab Emirates, Saudi Arabia and Syria also came under attack. According to the Pentagon, around 50,000 US troops are currently deployed in the Middle East.
