MOSCOW, September 28. /TASS/. The Sri Lankan military personnel showed interest in Russian weaponry during the Russian-Sri Lankan Wolverine Trail 2026 joint exercise, Shehan Wijesinghe, an officer of the Sri Lankan Armed Forces, said.

"Sri Lankan soldiers are very interested in Russian weapons. They are trying to learn how to use them and how to aim properly. They are here from morning till night, and they are happy to receive new information," he said, noting that the Russian AK-12 assault rifle interested them the most.

The Wolverine Trail 2026 joint Russian-Sri Lankan military maneuvers took place in the Primorsky Region from September 22 to 27. The exercise centered on joint operations by special forces to eliminate illegal armed groups with the active use of reconnaissance and strike unmanned aerial vehicles. A series of cultural and sports events aimed at strengthening friendly ties between the military contingents of the two countries were also organized as part of the maneuvers.
