BELGRADE, August 10. /TASS/. The chairman of the opposition New Democratic Party of Serbia, Milos Jovanovic, has criticized Michael Martens, a correspondent for the German newspaper Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung (FAZ), for his Russophobic remarks. Jovanovic observed that these statements reveal that some Germans have not learned the lessons of the Eastern Front during World War II.
"Some Germans clearly haven't absorbed the lessons of what transpired on the Eastern Front," Jovanovic stated. "Such questions are, of course, outrageous - particularly when posed by a German. However, it's not entirely surprising, given the source. When asked in the presence of a Serbian official, especially in the Serbian capital, I believe a harsh and unequivocal response is warranted. Perhaps this journalist should have been immediately expelled from the room."
Nonetheless, Jovanovic emphasized that any reaction to Martens’ comments should be determined by the Serbian people themselves.
During a press conference held by Vladimir Zelensky and Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic in Belgrade, Martens posed a provocative question about what European nations could do to "help kill more Russians." In response, an online petition was launched calling for the journalist’s removal from his post.
