Conflict in Ukraine can lead to World War Three —Trump

Putin and Trump earlier held a conversation, in which they discussed the issue of a 30-day ceasefire in Ukraine

NEW YORK, March 19. /TASS/. The conflict in Ukraine may lead to World War Three if allowed to continue, US President Donald Trump said in an interview with Fox News.

"We want to get it over with [this conflict]. Look, we're doing this. There are no Americans involved. There could be if you end up in World War Three over this, which is so ridiculous. But, you know, strange things happen," the US leader said.

Putin and Trump earlier held a conversation, in which they discussed the issue of a 30-day ceasefire in Ukraine, the conditions for preventing escalation, and a number of international issues. The Russian president supported the US leader’s proposal that Russia and Ukraine refrain from strikes on energy facilities.

The sides also agreed to launch "technical negotiations on implementation of a maritime ceasefire in the Black Sea, full ceasefire and permanent peace," the White House said in a statement. The Kremlin siad that "the key condition for preventing the escalation of the conflict and working on its redirection to a political and diplomatic settlement must be a complete halt to foreign military assistance and the provision of intelligence to Kiev.".
