BUDAPEST, February 12. /TASS/. The Alternative for Germany (AfD) party advocates for the resolution of the conflict in Ukraine and the maintenance of peaceful ties with Russia, said AfD co-chair Alice Weidel at a press conference after a meeting with Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban.
"We are for peace in Ukraine," she stated, adding that she views it as "very hazardous to trigger a spiral of escalation" of the conflict. "We are for peace with Russia and Ukraine."
In its platform, published ahead of the early parliamentary elections on February 23, the AfD called for the removal of economic sanctions against Russia, the reconstruction of the Nord Stream and Nord Stream-2 pipelines, and the strengthening of cooperation with the Eurasian Economic Union.
The document also states that Ukraine should eventually become a neutral country, not a member of the European Union and NATO.
