DUBAI, February 12. /TASS/. Tehran aims to overcome the economic challenges imposed by US President Donald Trump's maximum pressure campaign by securing support from Russia and China, according to Ahmad Bakhshayesh Ardestani, a member of the Iranian parliamentary Committee on National Security.
"Even under intense pressure from the US, we will be able to address specific economic issues by collaborating with Russia, China, and our neighboring nations until Donald Trump’s term ends," he emphasized in an interview with the Didban Iran news outlet. According to the Iranian official, the objective of the US president’s pressure strategy is to "disarm Iran," strip the nation of its missile capabilities, and cripple its economy.
Earlier, Iranian Government Spokesperson Fatemeh Mohajerani stated that Tehran refused to engage in discussions with Washington, as the United States lacked diplomatic understanding and could not be trusted to uphold agreements.
On February 4, Trump signed a memorandum renewing the maximum pressure on Iran. The document notably calls for intensifying efforts to curtail Iranian oil exports. However, Trump did not rule out a potential meeting with Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian.
