Lebanon looks to Trump to make good on promise to stop war in Middle East — ambassador

During his election campaign, Donald Trump pledged that if he became president, he would be able to put an end to the chaos in the Middle East

MOSCOW, November 11. /TASS/. Lebanon hopes that US President-elect Donald Trump will deliver on his campaign pledge to end the war in the Middle East, Lebanese Ambassador to Russia Shawki Bou Nassar told TASS.

"We hope that he will fulfill his promises and will put an end to wars everywhere, as he pledged," he said.

"Unfortunately, we know that campaign promises in the United States, like in other countries, are usually not kept. Most of them are made to win over voters, and when a candidate comes to power, his country’s interests and priorities change," the Lebanese diplomat noted.

According to Nassar, Lebanon is looking forward to Trump stopping "Israel’s aggression" against all the countries being subjected to it.

During his election campaign, Trump pledged that if he became president, he would be able to put an end to the chaos in the Middle East. He also trumpeted that such levels of escalation in the region would have been impossible during his presidency.

Republican Trump defeated his Democratic rival, current US Vice President Kamala Harris, in the November 5 presidential election. Apart from that, the Republican Party took control of the Senate and is also expected to gain a majority in the House of Representatives. Trump’s inauguration is set for January 20, 2025.
