MINSK, February 27. /TASS/. Despite sanctions, Belarus, in concert with Russia, can manufacture any type of weapons in any quantity, Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko said on Monday.
"I would like to note that despite the unprecedented sanctions pressure, we manufacture enough weapons and military hardware for the Belarusian army. It is because everything we need, I mean weapons, hardware, we simply receive from Russia. And what concerns microelectronics, optoelectronics, optics and others, thanks to those who have managed to preserve production lines inherited from the Soviet Union. So, together with Russia, we can manufacture any type of weapons," SB. Belarus Segodnya, a media outlet, quoted him as saying.
"Moreover, we can afford to export these products to 57 world countries. And we are doing it. We are successfully developing state-of-the-art weapons not only in those areas where we have research expertise but we are also developing new promising areas - missiles, heavy artillery shells," Lukashenko said.
According to the Belarusian president, the country is arming its forces in cooperation with Russia, which has supplied the Iskander missile system with the necessary set of missiles, and the S-400 long-range air defense system. "As part of the state weapons program, we have purchased a Tor air defense battery, antitank guided missiles, mortars, rocket-propelled anti-personnel flame throwers, more than 830,000 munitions of various calibers. Nearly a million. Su-30SM planes, Mi-35M helicopters, armored infantry carriers, as well as other weapons, rockets and munitions will be supplied," he added.
