State Duma delegation visits Uzbekistan to discuss inter-parliamentary cooperation

Meetings with the speakers of the legislative chamber and the Senate of the Uzbek parliament, Nurdinjon Ismoilov and Tanzila Norboyeva, are scheduled to discuss inter-parliamentary cooperation

MOSCOW, November 27./TASS/. A delegation of the Russian State Duma lower house of parliament, led by Speaker Vyacheslav Volodin, pays an official visit to Uzbekistan on November 27-28.

Meetings with the speakers of the legislative chamber and the Senate of the Uzbek parliament, Nurdinjon Ismoilov and Tanzila Norboyeva, are scheduled to discuss inter-parliamentary cooperation.

On July 12, Volodin discussed with Uzbekistan's acting Foreign Minister Vladimir Norov the development of inter-parliamentary cooperation and implementation of the decisions made by the presidents of the two countries. Relations between the two countries should continue to rely on mutual respect, the principles of sovereignty and non-interference in domestic affairs, Volodin noted back then. "We highly appreciate the level of our strategic partnership, allied relations and we are making every effort to ensure that our relations develop," Norov said in turn.

Earlier, Volodin met with Ismoilov. Volodin invited his colleagues to discuss the possibility of interaction at a higher level - within the framework of a Russia-Uzbekistan inter-parliamentary commission. Norov reaffirmed the readiness of the Uzbek side to establish a commission.
