Macron says time is ripe for new talks with Ukraine

The French president also added that further support for Ukraine and stalled grain exports also need to be discussed

PARIS, June 15. /TASS/. It is time to hold new talks with Ukraine, President Emmanuel Macron of France said, when asked whether he was planning a trip to Kiev this week.

"I think a new discussion with Ukraine is necessary," Macron said in Romania, pointing to an unprecedented geopolitical situation on the EU’s doorstep.

Further support for Ukraine and stalled grain exports need to be discussed, Macron explained.

La Stampa earlier reported that Italian Prime Minister Mario Draghi, German Chancellor Olaf Scholz and French President Emmanuel Macron could pay a joint visit to Kiev on June 16. Prior to that, the German newspaper Bild am Sontag said the visit was possible, without disclosing the date.

Moscow guarantees the unimpeded passage of ships carrying Ukrainian grain if Kiev clears its ports of mines and can ensure the export of goods through Russian-controlled ports such as Berdyansk and Mariupol, Russian President Vladimir Putin said earlier.
