Turkey working with UN to ensure passage of Ukrainian ships carrying grain, says minister

The work is also underway to establish a contact group on all these humanitarian issues, Turkey’s top diplomat added

UNITED NATIONS, May 19. /TASS/. Turkey is working with the United Nations to ensure the safe passage of Ukrainian ships carrying grain, as well as to establish a contact group on humanitarian corridors in Ukraine, Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu said at a ministerial conference on food security organized by the United States.

"We support Secretary General's efforts to establish humanitarian corridors to ensure food security. Together with the UN we are working to ensure the safe passage of Ukrainian ships carrying grain," he said.

The work is also underway to establish a contact group on all these humanitarian issues, Turkey’s top diplomat added. "We welcome Italy's timely initiative to form the ministerial Mediterranean Dialogue on the food security crisis and we will co-chair," he said.
