Belarus launching another surprise inspection of troops in response to NATO exercise

The Defense Ministry can see "every move NATO are making, we can see which battalion task forces are being deployed and to which training areas, as well as which military tasks they are going to practice," Khrenin said

MINSK, May 10. /TASS/. The surprise inspection of the Belarusian armed forces enters its 2nd stage on Tuesday in response to a NATO military exercise being held in the alliance’s member-countries, Belarus’ Defense Minister Viktor Khrenin told reporters on Tuesday.

"We have launched an inspection of our rapid reaction forces, and it will enter its second stage later today. The move is a relevant response to the Defender Europe exercise NATO countries have been holding since May 1," the Belta news agency said on its Telegram channel publishing an extract of the defense minister’s video statement.

The Defense Ministry can see "every move they (NATO - TASS) are making, we can see which battalion task forces are being deployed and to which training areas, as well as which military tasks they are going to practice," Khrenin said. "Being aware of the specific threats they could pose, we have been reacting accordingly, sending troops to specific areas," the Belarusian defense minister said.
