MADRID, March 11. /TASS/. NATO will invite Ukraine and Georgia to its summit in Madrid, Estonian Foreign Minister Eva-Maria Liimets said during a press conference with her Spanish counterpart Jose Manuel on Friday.
"We will also invite our partners from Ukraine and Georgia to the summit," the diplomat said.
She pointed out the importance of anti-Russian sanctions "in order to pressure Russia and stop the war."
In turn, Albares stated that "NATO borders are protected" at this point, adding that "Spain is directly involved in these efforts."
The meeting of NATO heads of state and governments will take place in Madrid on June 29-30. The participants will adopt a new strategic concept; will discuss reinforcement of the alliance and effects of climate change on security.
On February 24, Russian President Vladimir Putin announced a special military operation in Ukraine. The EU called this action a violation of international law and imposed anti-Russian sanctions.
