Beijing Paralympics torch relay to run on March 2-4 — TV

It is reported that 565 torchbearers will take part in the relay

BEIJING, March 2. /TASS/. The torch relay of the 2022 Beijing Paralympic Games will be held on March 2-4, China Central Television reported on Wednesday.

On Monday, the Paralympic flame was traditionally lit in the British village of Stoke Mandeville, where the Paralympic movement originated. According to the media outlet, the relay took place at three key locations for the Games, including Beijing, the capital’s Yanqing District and the Hebei Province’s city of Zhangjiakou.

On Wednesday, all nine lights were combined into one Paralympic flame. The solemn ceremony took place at the Temple of Heaven ("Tiantan") in Beijing and marked the beginning of the relay race.

In the period from March 2 to March 4, the flame will visit Beijing and Hebei Province. Like the Olympic torch relay, the transfer of the Paralympic torch will take place without spectators.

According to the organizers, 565 torchbearers will take part in the relay, of which over 20% are people with disabilities.

The 24th Winter Olympic Games were held in Beijing from February 4 to 20, 2022. The 13th Paralympic Winter Games will be held from March 4 to 13.
