SOCHI, December 1. /TASS/. Readers of the National Geographic Traveler chose Sochi’s Krasnaya Polyana as Russia’s best ski resort for 2017, the city press office said on Friday.

National Geographic Traveler readers have voted for the seventh time for the best tourist destinations, airlines, hotels, travel websites, cruises and programs.

"The ski resort of Krasnaya Polyana was named Russia’s best. The Krasnodar Region also won an award as the best destination for wellness vacations in the country," the press service said.

In all, 270,000 people cast their votes in 22 categories.

"This award means that we are properly utilizing our Olympic legacy. New guests still keep coming to Krasnaya Polyana three years after the Olympic Games and the quality of services is improving," the press service said.

Krasnaya Polyana’s skiing season is scheduled to open on December 2.

More than 1.5 million visitors spent their vacations at these resorts during the previous season.
