MOSCOW, December 6. /TASS/. Italian journalist and war correspondent Andrea Lucidi, who has been living in Russia since 2022, told TASS on Friday that he has applied for Russian citizenship.
Lucidi specializes in covering the special military operation in Ukraine. On November 10, he asked Russian President Vladimir Putin to grant him Russian citizenship, claiming that he was facing persecution back home.
"Yes, I submitted all of the required documents today," Lucidi said. "The office told me that my passport would be ready within three months."
The Italian media has claimed that Lucidi is a "Kremlin agent" who is being paid in cryptocurrency, reports he denies.
Lucidi added that he could be subjected to sanctions in European countries, complicating his professional work.
