Emergency situations' minister says Russia open for cooperation in safety in Arctic

It is reported that the Arctic is a most promising region both for Russia and for the world

MURMANSK, April 7. /TASS/. The participation of observers from 13 countries in the Safe Arctic-2023 exercises demonstrates the interest in the Arctic and humanitarian missions at the international level, Russia's Minister of Emergency Situations Alexander Kurenkov said on Thursday.

"Your participation is a clear demonstration of the interest in the Arctic and in the humanitarian mission at the international level," the minister said at a meeting with foreign representatives at Atomflot's base in Murmansk. "It also demonstrates we are open for cooperation in safety."

The Arctic is a most promising region both for Russia and for the world, he continued. The foreign guests have highlighted the exercises' large scale and the high professional skills of Russian specialists.

The Safe Arctic-2023 exercises are underway in the Arctic on April 6 and 7 at the initiative of Minister Alexander Kurenkov and President Vladimir Putin. The exercises feature 21 federal agencies, two state-run corporations, 11 businesses, and almost 40 representatives of 13 countries.
