MOSCOW, April 7. /TASS/. Russian businessman and member of the Russian Liberal Democratic Party Viktor Bout has sent a wire to former US President Donald Trump, inviting him to Russia to lead "a rebellion against the globalists."
"Today, I sent a telegram to former US President Donald Trump. First of all, I believe that his life is in danger. The trial that has begun in New York will not end with Donald Trump just getting convicted and losing his chance at the presidency," the Russian said after sending the wire.
According to Bout, he also invites Trump to Russia and offers him protection and political asylum so that he is able to lead "a rebellion against the globalists and save the American people."
Earlier, Viktor Bout was returned to Russia as part of prisoner swap for US basketball player Brittney Griner. He was arrested in Bangkok in 2008 on a warrant issued by a local court at the US’ request. The Russian was charged with conspiracy to deliver weapons to a rebel group called the Revolutionary Armed Forces of Colombia, regarded as a terrorist organization by the United States. Two years later, Bout was extradited to the US. In April 2012, he was sentenced to 25 years in prison and fined $15 mln.
On March 30, Trump was indicted by a grand jury in New York over an alleged hush money payment to adult film star Stormy Daniels, which involved the falsification of the Trump Organization’s business records. Trump is charged with 34 felony counts of doctoring the business records with the intent to commit a separate crime. According to media outlets, each count is punishable by up to four years in prison. Trump was kept in custody for about two hours under US procedural law. After his release he flew from New York to Florida.
