Right Sector supporter plotting terror attack on Victory Day detained in Kaliningrad — FSB

It is stated that a Russian citizen planned to commit an act of terrorism against servicemen of one of the military units of the Russian Defense Ministry

MOSCOW, May 11. /TASS/. Russia's Federal Security Service (FSB) has detained in Kaliningrad a supporter of the Right Sector (a Ukrainian extremist organization outlawed in Russia), who was preparing an attack on Russian servicemen on Victory Day, the FSB Center for Public Relations (CPR) told TASS on Wednesday.

"The Federal Security Service in Kaliningrad detained a supporter of the outlawed in Russia extremist organization Right Sector, a Russian citizen, who planned to commit an act of terrorism against servicemen of one of the military units of the Russian Defense Ministry on the eve of Victory Day," the FSB said. According to the special service, after committing the terrorist act, he planned to go to Ukraine to participate in combat operations against the Russian Armed Forces.

The FSB officers seized from the detainee a home-made explosive device with striking elements and paraphernalia with the Right Sector symbols. A criminal case was initiated against him under Part 1 of Article 30, Part 1 of Article 205 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (preparation of a terrorist act), as well as under Part 1 of Article 223.1 of the Criminal Code (illegal manufacture of ammunition, explosives, or explosive devices).
