Russia’s Komsomolskaya Pravda daily closes its Minsk office

Komsomolskaya Pravda in Belarus journalist Gennady Mozheiko had been detained in Belarus on October 1 upon arrival from Russia

MOSCOW, October 5. /TASS/. Russia’s Komsomolskaya Pravda daily said on Tuesday it closes its office in Minsk.

"Having analyzed the developments of this year and especially of the recent week, the Komsomolskaya Pravda took a decision to close its office in Minsk," it said on its official website.

The Minsk office employees will be paid compensations or offered jobs with other Komsomolskaya Pravda offices.

The Belarusian interior ministry reported earlier that Komsomolskaya Pravda in Belarus journalist Gennady Mozheiko had been detained in Belarus on October 1 upon arrival from Russia. Before that, Belarus’ ministry of information blocked access to the kp.by website.
