One third of Russians polled think Cold War is round the corner

Cold War probability is growing over time, respondents said, sending an assessment index to 70 points in November from a reading of 36 points in March

MOSCOW, December 1. /TASS/. Three out of 10 Russians say Cold War between Russia and the West may lie ahead, results from a public opinion poll suggested on Monday.

A quarter of those asked said it had already arrived while around the same number accused America and Europe for the return to days of confrontation, one in five put their faith in Russia's president and the government to thaw the chill.

Sixteen hundred people were questioned in 46 regions about resumption of global super-power confrontation which lasted from soon after the end of World War Two until the Soviet Union's breakup in 1991.
