Russian air defenses intercept 8 Tochka-U, two S-200 missiles, 34 MLRS rockets

The Defense Ministry added that over the past day 15 Ukrainian combat drones were destroyed

MOSCOW, January 3. /TASS/. The Russian air defense forces have intercepted eight Tochka-U missiles, two S-200 surface-to-air missiles modified to hit ground targets, and 34 rockets from HIMARS, Alder and Vampire multiple launch rocket systems, and 15 enemy drones were also destroyed, the Russian Defense Ministry said.

"Over the past 24 hours, air defenses intercepted eight Tochka-U ballistic missiles, two S-200 anti-aircraft missiles modified to hit ground targets, as well as 34 rockets of HIMARS, Alder and Vampire multiple launch rocket systems," the ministry said.

The Defense Ministry added that over the past day 15 Ukrainian combat drones were destroyed near Energodar and Mirnoye in the Zaporozhye Region; Zolotarevka in the Lugansk People’s Republic; Gorlovka, Peski and Spornoye in the Donetsk People’s Republic and Novaya Kakhovka in the Kherson Region.

The Defense Ministry pointed out that a total of 565 warplanes, 263 helicopters, 10,367 unmanned aerial vehicles, 446 surface-to-air missile systems, 14,447 tanks and other armored combat vehicles, 1,194 multiple rocket launchers, 7,618 field artillery guns and mortars and 17,040 special military motor vehicles had been destroyed since the start of the special military operation in Ukraine.
