Russia develops UAV control system to combat electronic warfare tools

The move, according to Vadim Medvedev, General Director of the NTI Project Support Fund, is aimed at import substitution and boosting the reliability of manufactured goods

NOVOSIBIRSK, July 31. /TASS/. A new control system for unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs), which can combat electronic warfare tools, was developed in Russia at the National Technological Initiative (NTI) Center for Technologies in Robotics and Mechatronics Components at Innopolis University in Tatarstan, according to the NTI Project Support Fund.

"Russia has developed a new system for controlling drones. It enables to overcome electronic warfare" the fund told TASS.

The move, according to Vadim Medvedev, General Director of the NTI Project Support Fund, is aimed at import substitution and boosting the reliability of manufactured goods, as well as quickening the mass production of new types of unmanned aerial systems for the domestic market. "It will cut the time it takes to develop new drones 1.7-fold and reduce their cost by up to 30%. The development was created at the NTI Competence Center in the direction of Technologies in Robotics and Mechatronics Components at Innopolis University," he added.

Potential customers for the new breakthrough product could include industrial drone manufacturers.

In addition, the NTI Project Support Fund told TASS that a school was opened in Russia to teach pilots to control agricultural drones. It intends to train up to 100,000 people by 2030, using its own software and around 2,000 high-tech systems.
