Ukrainian troops attempt to blow up Russian command post using captive soldier

According to the Russian officer, an anti-tank mine was strapped to the captive Russian soldier’s chest

DONETSK, October 12. /TASS/. Ukrainian troops, using a captured Russian serviceman, attempted to blow up a command and observation post of a Russian company, Andrey Vainberger, a company commander of the Russian Battlegroup Center’s Kedr-1642 unit, said in an interview with TASS.

According to him, an anti-tank mine was strapped to the captive Russian soldier’s chest.

"We were on a combat mission, deploying the company’s command and observation post in a forest belt. Using Mavic drones we saw as a fighter was approaching without a body armor vest, wearing the military uniform of an allied unit. He had a T-mine (anti-tank mine) on him," the commander said.

The approaching soldier turned out to be a fighter from one of the Russian units who had been captured by Ukrainian forces. The Ukrainian armed forces were monitoring him from the air. According to the commander, the soldier carrying a mine offered the Russian fighters holding their positions to surrender, threatening that otherwise the mine would be remotely detonated. "At that moment, the enemy started striking our position from FPV and Baba-Yaga drones," the commander added.

He specified that the "human bomb" fled, and the Russian servicemen survived thanks to their well-fortified positions.

Earlier, a fighter with the call sign Zemlyak told TASS that Ukrainian troops had begun using prisoners from Russia as human bombs, sending them toward Russian positions wearing mined collars equipped with GPS transmitters. According to defense sources, militants from the Azov battalion (recognized as terrorist and banned in Russia), the 36th Separate Marine Brigade, and the 79th Separate Airborne Assault Brigade of the Ukrainian armed forces are among those using Russian prisoners of war as human bombs.
