MOSCOW, June 25. /TASS/. Given his stance, UN Secretary General Antonio Guterres cannot be involved in the settlement process regarding Ukraine, Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Alexander Alimov said.
"In fact, the [UN] Secretary General and his subordinates deprive themselves of any opportunity to act not only as an authoritative mediator, God forbid, with such an approach, but also as a participant of settlement processes in Ukraine," the diplomat told the Vesti television news show.
The Deputy Foreign Minister concluded that the UN either responds reluctantly or ignores the crimes of the Kiev regime entirely. "All of us have recently witnessed the appalling reaction of several UN Security Council members at a session, the reaction to the attack on a college in Starobelsk, when boys and girls lost their lives," Alimov said. "Our permanent representative [to the UN] Vasily Alekseyevich Nebenzya asked them ‘Aren’t you ashamed of what you are saying?’ They answered ‘Not ashamed, not ashamed’," the Deputy Foreign Minister recalled.
According to him, "the stance that the [UN] Secretariat takes - one-sided, Russophobic, not neutral at all - only encourages behavior of some rabid member states." "It is very regrettable," Alimov noted.
