MOSCOW, April 3. /TASS/. The mutual commitment of Russia and Sri Lanka to continue political dialogue, mutually beneficial cooperation and interaction on international platforms was confirmed during the latest inter-Foreign Ministry consultations held in Colombo on Thursday, the Russian Foreign Ministry said in a statement.
The consultations were held at the level of Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Andrey Rudenko and First Deputy Foreign Minister of Sri Lanka Aruni Ranaraja.
"The sides discussed current issues on the bilateral, regional and international agenda," the Russian Foreign Ministry noted. "A mutual commitment to continue political dialogue, intensify mutually beneficial cooperation between Russia and Sri Lanka in various fields and deepen interaction on international platforms was confirmed," the ministry added.
Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Andrey Rudenko also met with Minister of Foreign Affairs, Foreign Employment and Tourism of Sri Lanka Vijitha Herath. "Current issues of Russia-Sri Lanka relations and prospects for bilateral contacts at various levels were discussed," the Foreign Ministry's statement noted.
"In a separate meeting between Rudenko and representatives of the expert community held at the Pathfinder Foundation, a useful exchange of views on current international issues took place," the Russian Foreign Ministry said.
