Russia, US discuss new deal to resume Black Sea initiative — Foreign Ministry

Russia will not rejoin the grain deal in the Black Sea before the West has lifted sanctions on its ships and supplies of agricultural equipment

MOSCOW, March 27. /TASS/. Moscow and Washington are discussing the terms of a new agreement to relaunch the Black Sea initiative, Russian Foreign Ministry Spokeswoman Maria Zakharova said at a briefing.

"[Russia and the United States are considering] a new agreement, whose framework is currently being discussed," the diplomat commented on the topics of the Russia-US talks in Riyadh.

Following expert consultations between Russia and the United States in Riyadh, the Kremlin said in a statement that Moscow and Washington had agreed to guarantee implementation of the Black Sea initiative — safe navigation and the prohibition of using commercial vessels for military purposes. Russia will not rejoin the grain deal in the Black Sea before the West has lifted sanctions on its ships and supplies of agricultural equipment.
