Zelensky’s claims of readiness for talks ring hollow — Kremlin

According to Dmitry Peskov, this readiness must be based on something

MOSCOW, February 5. /TASS/. Kremlin Spokesman Dmitry Peskov dismissed Vladimir Zelensky’s assurances of readiness for talks with Russia as empty words, pointing out that Zelensky himself had previously banned Ukraine from engaging in such negotiations.

"This readiness must be based on something; it cannot simply stem from a legislative ban on such talks for Zelensky. Therefore, for now, we can only regard it as empty words," the Kremlin spokesman said.

On October 4, 2022, Zelensky introduced the decision of the National Security and Defense Council (NSDC) prohibiting talks with Russian President Vladimir Putin.
