The Russian Armed Forces have been advancing towards the city of Kurakhovo from Stariye Terny, which will enable the encirclement of the Ukrainian-controlled city from the west, Chairman of the Civic Chamber Commission on Sovereignty, Patriotic Projects, and Support of Veterans Vladimir Rogov told TASS.
"After Russian forces gained control of the settlement of Stariye Terny, [our troops] started advancing towards Kurakhovo to encircle it from the west," the official said.
"Hostilities are ongoing in the south of Kurakhovo, with our forces also gradually approaching its western part," he added.
On December 4, Rogov told TASS that the Russian army was conducting a mop-up operation in the settlement of Stariye Terny in the Donetsk People’s Republic (DPR) on the western bank of the Kurakhovo water reservoir.
