MOSCOW, December 14. /TASS/. Russia’s food security is not in question and efforts are underway to resolve issues related to agricultural selection, President Vladimir Putin said during his combined Direct Line Q&A session and year-end press conference.
"As for ensuring food security, it’s safe to say that Russia’s food security is guaranteed," the head of state stressed.
"There are some issues related to the seeds of various crops. There is work to be done here," Putin said. "There are also some goals to achieve in the field of selection. We have an initiative related to seeds, which I believe will run until 2030. Its implementation continues and the necessary funds are being allocated. This is an issue we need to resolve. Efforts are being made to that end and we will find a final solution," the president added.
Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin said at a plenary session of the Eurasian Congress in June that the level of Russia’s food security was higher than in most other countries. He also noted that Russia was ready to share its expertise and best practices.
