Russian Buk air defense system downs Ukrainian Mi-24 assault helicopter

MOSCOW, March 31. /TASS/. The team of a Russian Buk anti-aircraft missile system shot down a Ukrainian Mi-24 assault helicopter in the Zaporozhye area during the special military operation in Ukraine, Eastern Battlegroup Spokesman Alexander Gordeyev reported on Friday.

"In the Zaporozhye direction, the Buk anti-aircraft missile system’s team shot down a Mi-24 helicopter upon the enemy’s attempt to deliver an air strike against our positions from the area of the settlement of Temirovka," the spokesman said in a video released by the Russian Defense Ministry.

In the southern Donetsk direction, Russian forces eliminated an enemy reconnaissance group, killing over 10 Ukrainian militants. The team of an Osa-AKM air defense system wiped out a Ukrainian Valkyrie drone, he said.

Russian forces also uncovered an amassment of five Ukrainian armored vehicles and 40 personnel, the spokesman said.

"A pre-emptive artillery strike was delivered against the enemy. According to radio intercepts, an armored vehicle and as many as 10 militants were destroyed," Gordeyev reported.
