Calls for Americans to leave Russia nothing new — Kremlin comments on embassy warning

"The US Department of State has voiced this many times, this is not new," the Kremlin spokesman said

MOSCOW, February 13. /TASS/. Calls by US authorities for Americans to leave Russia have been heard repeatedly, Russian Presidential Spokesman Dmitry Peskov told journalists on Monday.

"Appeals not to visit Russia, to depart Russia - this is not the first time we have heard this. The [US] Department of State has voiced this many times, this is not new," the Kremlin spokesman said, commenting on the US embassy's warning on Sunday urging its nationals in Russia to depart the country.

Peskov also commented on the embassy’s warning that Russia "may refuse to acknowledge dual nationals’ U.S. citizenship, including denying access to U.S. consular assistance and preventing their departure from Russia."

"Well, as for its mentioning citizens with dual citizenship, here, in any case, these citizens for us are primarily citizens of Russia, regardless of what citizenship they have," he stressed.
