Russia, Mali eye further steps on delivering military equipment — Lavrov

The Russian foreign minister noted that in terms of its air force being outfitted with aviation equipment and arms, Mali is "one of the most prepared and efficient" countries in that region

BAMAKO /Mali/, February 7. /TASS/. Russia and Mali are planning future steps on the supplies of weapons and military equipment as well as in the sphere of education, specifically regarding military institutions of higher learning, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov said following talks with his Malian counterpart Abdoulaye Diop on Tuesday.

"Now we are planning additional steps in the sphere of education along the lines of military institutions of higher learning and in terms of deliveries of arms and military equipment," he said.

The Russian top diplomat noted that in terms of its air force being outfitted with aviation equipment and arms, Mali is "one of the most prepared and efficient" countries in that region. "Over the past couple of months, we made major deliveries of aviation equipment which substantially boosted the abilities and capabilities of Mali’s air force and security forces to eradicate the terror threat," he added.
