Vast majority of countries against diktat of certain states — Putin

They consider everyone as second-class citizens and view themselves as exceptional

MOSCOW, October 27. /TASS/. The vast majority of countries are now demanding democracy in foreign affairs rejecting the diktat of certain states yet the "civilized" West is not welcoming this approach, Russian President Vladimir Putin said at a plenary session of the Valdai International Discussion Club on Thursday.

"Nowadays, an absolute majority of the global community is precisely calling for democracy in foreign affairs and does not accept any form of authoritarian diktat by individual countries or groups of states. What is this if not the direct application of the rule of the people at the level of international relations?" the Russian leader said.

"And what is the position of the ‘civilized’ West? If you are democrats, then it seems that you should welcome such a natural desire for freedom by billions of people. But no," he added. "They consider everyone as second-class citizens and view themselves as exceptional. This has been going on for centuries, to this day," Putin said.
