Russia expects Israel to take more balanced, objective stance on Ukraine, says diplomat

Deputy Foreign Minister Mikhail Bogdanov emphasized that Russia valued the special nature of its relationship with Israel, given the memory of WWII

KAZAN, May 19./TASS/. Moscow expects that Israel will take a more balanced and objective stance on the issue of Ukraine, Deputy Foreign Minister Mikhail Bogdanov said on the sidelines of the 13th International Economic Summit "Russia - Islamic World: KazanSummit 2022" on Thursday.

"We expect that our Israeli partners will take a more balanced and objective position regarding the developments in Ukraine," he said in reply to a question from TASS.

Moscow hopes that its arguments will be taken seriously and with understanding, he went on to say. "Of course, we were a bit disappointed over such anti-Russian statements from a number of responsible officials in Israel, since this does not correspond to the nature of traditionally friendly relations that we have been building for 30 years, since the late 1980s," Bogdanov stressed.

The senior diplomat emphasized that Russia valued the special nature of its relationship with Israel, given the memory of WWII. "We have common positions in this respect, and we celebrate Victory Day precisely on May 9 unlike many Western countries. And of course, we appreciate this greatly," he emphasized.
