MOSCOW, May 15. /TASS/. Moscow regrets the US’ decision to transfer its embassy from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem and considers the effects of this move to be tragic, Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergey Ryabkov told reporters on Tuesday.
"We can all see how tragic the effects of this decision are," he said. "We regret this decision and believe that taking such actions was wrong."
The deputy foreign minister stressed that Moscow still adheres to the concept of a two-state solution of the Palestinian-Israeli problem.
On May 14, an opening ceremony for the US embassy in Israel was held in Jerusalem. This event triggered mass protests among Palestinians on the border between Israel and the Gaza Strip. As many as 59 Palestinians were killed in clashes between the protesters and the Israeli security forces.
