Siemens ready to work with Russian Railways on international projects

Siemens is considering exporting their products from Russia to third countries, CEO at Siemens Russia Dietrich Moeller said

MOSCOW, February 11. /TASS/. Siemens is ready to cooperate Russian Railways on international projects, President and CEO at Siemens Russia Dietrich Moeller told journalists Thursday after the meeting with Russian Railways President Oleg Belozerov and representatives of the Association of European Businesses.

"Russian Railways is currently actively working on international projects - in Iran, Serbia, Belozerov even talked about Brazil, Saudi Arabia, and India. The ruble volatility has no effect there, because the contracts are in euro and dollars, I think we could consider this direction together. Wherever you need technology, specific infrastructure solutions, on rolling stock - Siemens is working in 90 countries and is ready to provide these solutions," Moeller said.

Siemens is considering exporting their products from Russia to third countries, Dietrich Moeller added.

"Maybe we will even use our production capacity in Russia to participate in international projects. Here we are talking not about import substitution, but "export substitution", i.e. substitution for exports from Germany, for example, by exporting of electric locomotives from Ural locomotives to other countries. This is an interesting field of work, I think there are some possibilities," he said.

Siemens works in Russia under the joint venture with Sinara Group - Ural Locomotives, which produces electric freight locomotives and electric trains "Lastochka" that can move at a speed of 160 km/h.

Earlier, Moeller said that the next generation of high-speed trains "Sapsan" could be manufactured at Ural locomotives.
