Unit 2 of Russia’s Rostov NPP shut down due to steam leak, says source

Rostov-on-Don and Volgograd are situated 205 and 175 kilometers away from the NPP, respectively

ROSTOV-ON-DON, October 21. /TASS/. Unit 2 of the Russian Rostov nuclear power plant (NPP) has been shut down due to a steam leak, a source in the emergency services of the region told TASS on Thursday.

"There has been a steam leak, Unit 2 has been shut down," the source said.

The Rostov nuclear power plant is a subsidiary of the Rosenergoatom concern (part of Rosatom). It was named the Volgodonsk NPP in 2001-2010. The NPP is located on the banks of the Tsimlyansk reservoir 13.5 kilometers to the northeast of Volgodonsk. Rostov-on-Don and Volgograd are situated 205 and 175 kilometers away from the NPP, respectively.
