Audi to invest $4.2 billion in building car plant in US — Trump

A massive plant in Georgia will produce 200,000 cars a year, Donald Trump said

WASHINGTON, October 25. /TASS/. German automaker Audi, which is part of the Volkswagen Group, plans to invest $4.2 billion in the construction of a plant in the US state of Georgia, President Donald Trump announced.

"Audi has just committed to invest 4.2 billion dollars in nearby Macon, Georgia, to begin the construction next month on a massive plant that will produce 200,000 cars a year," the US leader told Republican Party supporters at a rally in Georgia ahead of the November 3 midterm congressional elections. According to Trump, "this will be the single largest investment in modern US auto industry history."

The German automotive industry is facing a severe crisis. This crisis is caused by both rising costs, particularly high energy prices, and increased competition in the market.
