MOSCOW, October 19. /TASS/. A BAZ tractor unit showcased at a professional driving competition in Novy Urengoy has covered more than 10,000 kilometers with no critical issues reported, the press service of the Romanov company, a subsidiary of Russia’s Almaz-Antey Group, told TASS.
The press service said that the BAZ tractor unit, featuring an independent spring suspension, was presented at the competition held on October 16–17, 2026. The event was organized by Gazprom Dobycha Yamburg.
"To date, the BAZ tractor unit has covered approximately 10,850 km, including 8,883 km of operational testing. Scheduled maintenance performed at the 10,000 km mark revealed no critical flaws," the press service noted.
The company stated that operating BAZ tractor units in the Far North allows engineers to assess the vehicle's performance and refine its design under real-world conditions.
"Based on the results of the previous operational testing phase, during which specialists gathered feedback and suggestions, a number of modifications have been incorporated into the vehicle's design," the company added.
According to the company, the tractor unit is currently being used at the Yamburg field for various transport tasks, including hauling specialized equipment.
"It is important for us that the BAZ vehicle is presented not just as a new domestic development, but as equipment already delivered to the customer and operating in real-world conditions," Dmitry Grechukhin, General Director of the Romanov company, was quoted as saying by the press service. "Participating in the professional skills competition is an excellent opportunity to introduce drivers to the truck, showcase its capabilities, and get feedback from specialists who work in the North daily."
