Putin supports idea of special economic zone throughout Kursk region

The Russian leader still noted that "the government has doubts about this" due to concerns that businesses from other regions of the country will re-register in safe areas of the Kursk region to enjoy benefits

KURCHATOV /Kursk region/, May 21. /TASS/. Russian President Vladimir Putin generally supported the proposal to extend the special economic zone regime to the entire territory of the Kursk region.

"As for the special economic zone throughout the Kursk region - I like this idea," the head of state said at a meeting with municipal leaders, which was held on May 20 in the Kursk region.

Putin noted that "the government has doubts about this" due to concerns that businesses from other regions of the country will re-register in safe areas of the Kursk region to enjoy benefits. "Nevertheless, the idea as such is correct. We will definitely talk to the government about this, with the Economic Development Ministry, let them look for a solution," the president said.
