Bank of Russia continues to be against cryptocurrency circulation in country

The Central Bank is for expediting the approval of a draft bill on international payments in cryptocurrencies but such payments should be made in an experimental legal regime, Elvira Nabiullina said earlier

MOSCOW, April 10. /TASS/. The mechanism of international payments in digital currencies is needed but the Bank of Russia continues to be against the circulation of cryptocurrencies inside the country, Central Bank chief Elvira Nabiullina said in the State Duma, the lower house of the Russian parliament.

"We support the use of cryptocurrencies for international payments. We do not support the circulation of cryptocurrencies inside the country as before," she noted.

The Central Bank is for expediting the approval of a draft bill on international payments in cryptocurrencies but such payments should be made in an experimental legal regime, Nabiullina said earlier.
