Around 122,000 phishing resources blocked in 2023 in Russia — Digital Development Ministry

MOSCOW, March 26. /TASS/. Russian specialists blocked 122,000 phishing resources in 2023 - fake websites for gaining access to personal information, according to a report from the Ministry of Digital Development, presented by Minister Maksut Shadayev. The number of blocked resources has increased fourfold compared to 2022.

Also, 571,000 fraudulent calls to Russians were blocked in 2023, the number of such calls decreased by 24%.

At the same time, Shadayev noted that around 3,000 small settlements in Russia were connected to high-speed Internet in 2023 as part of the program to eliminate the digital divide. "In 2023, we connected 2,865 settlements with a population of 100 to 500 people to LTE and high-speed networks," the minister said.

In total, 4,700 settlements have been connected over the past 5 years of the program to eliminate the digital divide.

Meanwhile, the total revenue of Russian IT companies in 2023 amounted to 5.5 trillion rubles ($59.87 bln). "The revenue of companies in the IT industry grew by more than 40% last year," the minister said. According to his presentation, the annual growth reached 43.2%, compared to 2019 - 2.6-fold.

According to the Minister, in 2023, the volume of revenue from the implementation of IT companies’ own solutions increased by 31%. "Revenue is growing due to the efficient development and implementation of domestic solutions," Shadayev said.
