Russia ready to continue supplying fertilizers to Mexico, says envoy

MEXICO CITY, May 20. /TASS/. Russian producers of fertilizers are ready to continue suppling them to Mexico in required volumes, Russian Ambassador to the Latin American country Viktor Koronelli told a press conference.

"We are ready to continue selling fertilizers in Mexico in the volumes that our partners will need, and I see no issues here," he said, adding that Russian "producers have respective possibilities."

In 2021, trade turnover between Russia and Mexico reached a record level of $4.5 bln despite the coronavirus pandemic, the diplomat noted.

Mexican President Andres Manuel Lopez Obrador urged earlier this month to develop agriculture production in the country to ensure self sufficiency amid growing food prices on global markets. On Monday his decree was published that cancels customs duties on import of a number of food items in a move to curb inflation, which totaled almost 7.7% in April, the highest level since early 2001.
