MOSCOW, April 29. /TASS/. An alternative to SWIFT in case of restrictions can be found within a short period of time, press secretary of the Russian president, Dmitry Peskov said on Thursday on TV Channel One.

"If SWIFT as a service proves to be unreliable, we are living in such a developed world that equivalents or bypasses or replacements to this system will be found very quickly," Peskov said.

Other countries will start abandoning the US dollar in their trading operations as soon as they begin to have doubts concerning stability of this currency and its issuing country, the press secretary noted.

"The dollar share in Russian trading operations is contracting from year to year and it will be so globally, as soon as people start doubting its stability and stability of the country - dollar issuer. People will start withdrawing," Peskov said.

"It is high time for everyone to understand, including the United States, that Russia is a strong and self-sufficient country. It is impossible to limit Russia in anything. Yes, it is possible to attempt to deter it, put a lid on desires of one’s allies and force them not to buy arms, but this will not force Russia to change its policy," the spokesperson added.
