Developers integrate Supercam S350 reconnaissance drone with artificial intelligence tools

The AI-powered system is capable of detecting, identifying and classifying objects in photos and videos shot by the drone in real time or during further analysis

DUBAI, November 18. /TASS/. Russia’s Supercam S350 reconnaissance drone has been equipped with an AI-powered automatic photo and video processing system, which makes it possible to identify and classify objects, Yekaterina Zgirovskaya, spokesperson for the Unmanned Systems group, told TASS on the sidelines of the Dubai Airshow 2025 international aerospace exhibition.

"The Unmanned Systems group is currently working on integrating [the drone] with AI tools. We have developed a smart automatic system to process photo and video footage. The AI-powered system is capable of detecting, identifying and classifying objects in photos and videos shot by the drone in real time or during further analysis," Zgirovskaya said.

She stressed that work to upgrade the Supercam S350 drone continued non-stop based on real combat experience. "In short, its onboard electronic equipment has been fully updated; the S350 now has increased interference resistance and is capable of performing flight missions in the absence of any satellite signals. It is also equipped with autonomous navigation systems and a system of protection against FPV drone attacks, while the quality of video data has been greatly enhanced, so the video stream is now transmitted to ground control stations in Full HD," Zgirovskaya specified.

She also pointed to a new step in the tactical use of the drone, which involved signal retransmission, meaning that a signal is received and then transmitted to the next user. "In combat conditions, this makes it possible to increase flight range, and when drones operate in coordination with loitering munitions, drone strikes become more accurate. The new software and hardware complex also provides for better interference resistance, reduced delays in the video signal delivery, the possibility of data relay, and the establishment of mesh networks for all Supercam drones," the spokesperson noted.

Dubai Airshow 2025 is running from November 17-21.
