NEW YORK, February 14. /TASS/. NATO is developing a plan for participation in several conflicts simultaneously, including beyond is area of responsibility, Bloomberg reported Tuesday.
According to the report, NATO Defense Ministers will sign a classified guidebook during the February 14-15 meeting in Brussels, which will contain potential plans of action in case NATO becomes involved in a "high intensity" conflict, in implementation of Article 5 of NATO Charter on mutual defense, as well as in a clash "beyond the area of responsibility" of the alliance.
The agency notes that the document will also include requirements for the allies’ military investments. In particular, the member states will be offered to redirect the investments to the sectors, most important from the collective security standpoint, such as tank forces, air and missile defenses, a high-ranking NATO source told Bloomberg, adding that the meeting in Brussels will discuss investments in digital modernization of member states. Once all points of the guidebook are agreed upon, NATO command will develop more detailed requirements for each alliance member.
