Russia’s military-industrial complex continues to increase capacity — Putin

The Russian leader noted that the enterprises of the defense-industrial complex are working in several shifts, some of them are operating practically around the clock

NOVO-OGARYOVO, January 17. /TASS/. Russia’s military-industrial complex has seriously picked up steam over the past year and continues to increase capacity, Russian President Vladimir Putin stressed at a meeting on economic issues on Tuesday.

"The defense-industrial complex greatly contributes to the dynamics of the manufacturing sector. Over the past year, it has seriously picked up steam and continues to increase capacity," the head of state said.

He noted that the enterprises of the defense-industrial complex are working in several shifts, some of them are operating practically around the clock. "In light of this, I would like to thank all the specialists involved in the domestic defense industry for their strenuous and responsible work. Its importance is [high] in general and is particularly high nowadays," Putin emphasized.

That said, the president noted that the situation in a number of industry branches requires particular attention both on the part of the federal government and on the part of the regions, locally. "Above all, this is about those production facilities that were primarily oriented toward the foreign market," he explained.
