Russian Navy to receive 20 combat ships in 2022, says deputy PM

According to Yury Borisov, Russian shipbuilders laid down 10 warships and six support vessels under the 2021 defense procurement plan

ST. PETERSBURG, May 20. /TASS/. The Russian Navy will receive 20 combat ships this year, Deputy Prime Minister Yury Borisov said on Friday.

"Present-day Russia cannot exist without a strong Navy. This year, another 20 combat ships, five boats and also 21 support vessels are set to enter service," the vice premier said at a meeting with naval commanders in the Admiralty.

Russian shipbuilders laid down 10 warships and six support vessels under the 2021 defense procurement plan. The Russian Navy received six warships, nine combat boats and 13 support vessels for service, the deputy PM said.
