MOSCOW, November 5. /TASS/. Russian Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev is convinced that warring sides should create a new political structure in Syria through talks.

"As a result, a new political structure should appear," Medvedev said in an interview with Israel’s Channel 2. "We do not know whether Bashar al-Assad or somebody else will have a place in it as it is not our business. Let the Syrians decide."

Along with this, the Russian prime minister said that Syria needs to change power legitimately.

"It should be nationwide reconciliation," he said. "Different warring sides need to sit at one table, except blatant terrorists, as it is senseless to talk to them. They must be destroyed."

"On the other hand, what one would not like at all is Syria’s breakup into some enclaves, or into a whole set of parts (like it happened in Libya), when each part would be controlled by separate terrorist groups," Medvedev said. "It would be very dangerous for all, including Israel."

Medvedev said that al-Assad could arouse different feelings but "at the moment he personifies the only legitimate power in Syria, he is a legitimate president."

During his previous talks with Israeli top officials, Medvedev got a notion "they were not sympathetic to Bashar al-Assad. But to have a person who manages the situation and controls the country is better that to have an uncontrolled process when the country falls apart and enclaves controlled by terrorists emerge."

"As far as I remember, that was the Israeli leadership’s position and in my view, it is a correct position," he emphasized.
